Become a volunteer

Thank you for your interest in our volunteer program. Our team of volunteers come from all walks of life, have diverse skills and talents and are motivated to give their time and energy for many reasons. The things that bind us together are our passion for art (in all its forms) and our commitment to the Gallery and the Maitland community.

Ongoing commitment

Commitment is a two-way street. To make your volunteering experience personally rewarding while at the same time enabling the Art Gallery to plan activities and rosters, we ask that you commit to a minimum of six months regular volunteering.

Application process

You: Download the MRAG volunteer application and the Working with Children Check forms below. Fill them in and either post or bring them into MRAG along with a copy of your current CV.

We: Process your paperwork and invite you to attend an interview and an induction day. Attendance is compulsory, but we make it an interesting and enjoyable experience. The aim of our induction is to formally introduce you to MRAG, its staff and their roles, and give you a tour of the building. We’ll also talk to you about what you would like to get out volunteering, and give you a start date.
