Subject and Association DescriptionLionel Lindsay created more than sixty bookplates between 1911 and 1958. Most were personal gifts for family and friends and some were commissioned.
Harry F. Chaplin (1895–1988) was the proprietor of the Chaplin-Elliott Dental Company in Sydney. He was a collector of Australian books, printed ephemera, manuscripts and letters. The kangaroo plate was a Lionel Lindsay design (not specifically created for Chaplin) however Chaplin obtained authorisation from Lindsay's son Peter Lindsay for the plate to be adapted for this book plate.
