Locust Jones’ art practice is very much about the news of today – indeed his artwork might be the title of that days date based on the news he hears as he works in his studio. But Locust is not comfortable to accept that version of the news he hears on the radio or reads in the paper – although this does, in part, inform his art practice. Locust will just take himself right into it – take a trip to Mozambique, Lebanon or Syria where he needs to be to see firsthand and represent in his artwork that which is otherwise reported to us here in the relative safety of Australia.
