Established artists Tracy Luff, Alison Coates, Lizzie Buckmaster‐Dove and Jane Gillings are uniting to reveal their common interest in the life of material objects. As they collect and construct, these artists offer us a new sight into the extraordinary inhabitants of our ordinary lives.

Bringing together a diverse selection of works, this exhibition presents a contemporary ‘cabinet of curiosities’; small collections of urban artifacts existing to tell stories of the wonders and oddities of the natural world.

OBJECT URBANITES delves into the realm of material vitality, exploring the agency and enchantment of the collected object. The artists forage through the ordinary in search of the materials for their work, actively aware of the sensory power and allure of the man‐made while observing the rhythms of nature.

The works guide us through a thoughtful contemplation of the texture and framework of the everyday object and urban environment. Approaching the man-made ‘product’ away from its context, we gain a new perspective. The objects take on a life of their own, escaping us, leaving hints, playing hide and seek and alluding to a world beyond their utilitarian existence.
