Subject and Association DescriptionLionel Lindsay created many still life prints - almost all as wood engravings. Much of the flowers, vegetables and fruit in his still lifes were from his own garden.
"This very precise botanical study emerges from the black ground in which it floats. Like the early 'Gum Blossom', 'Bigonias' is a study firmly based in the tradition of botanical drawing where Lindsay is more interested in showing the definite characteristics of the work rather than exploiting it in a design."
