Subject and Association DescriptionLionel Lindsay created more than sixty bookplates between 1911 and 1958. Most were personal gifts for family and friends, and some were commissioned.
Harrie P Mortlock was a friend of Peter Lindsay (Lionel Lindsay's son). Mortlock established the Beacon Press and Lionel Lindsay wrote the foreword to P. Neville Barnett's book 'Woodcut book-plates' which was privately printed at Beacon Press in 1934. Peter Lindsay asked his father to create this book plate as a gift to Mortlock.
