Access

Everyone is welcome at Maitland Regional Art Gallery

Level access

You can access Maitland Regional Art Gallery via steps at the High Street entrance or level access from the Gallery car park off James Street. All public areas of the Gallery, including the shop and café, are accessible via ramps or lifts.

Séraphine Café has an additional entry on James Street. For wheelchair or mobility vehicle access to the café prior to Gallery opening times, please enter via the Gallery car park off James Street.

Social Script, Visual Schedule & Sensory Bag

Would you like to know a bit about the Gallery before you arrive for a visit? Download our Social Script, a visual and scripted guide to view so you know what to expect before your visit.

Available at the Gallery reception desk is our Visual Schedule, which includes nine picture and word cards about what you can see and do in the Gallery. This has been designed to assist visitors who may experience anxiety if visiting for the first time.

The Gallery has created a Sensory Bag for people that live with sensory processing sensitivities, their families and carers, available any time the gallery is open. Please ask our staff if you would like to use the bag and the sensory assistance items (availability is subject to NSW Health regulations).

If you would like a rest during your visit to the Gallery, we have seated quiet indoor spaces and in our garden.

Parking

The Gallery car park includes two dedicated disability parking spaces. This car park is locked at 5.00pm. For additional information about disability/accessible parking in Maitland visit the Maitland City Council website.

Wheelchairs

You can borrow a wheelchair from the reception desk. Please reserve a wheelchair ahead of your visit to the Gallery on 02 4934 9859.

Companion Card

Maitland Regional Art Gallery accepts the Companion Card. Carers and attendants accompanying cardholders receive free entry to ticketed exhibitions and events on presentation of the Companion Card.

Guide dogs

Assistance and guide dogs are welcome at the Gallery. Ask for a water bowl at the reception desk.

Toilets

Accessible toilets are located on the ground floor near the café.

Access programs

The Gallery offers Arts Health and Access Programs for people with access needs.
