Butter Sculpture with the Tibetan Monks
July 9, 2015 | 12:00 am
Butter sculpture is an ancient Tibetan Buddhist art. Created as sacred offerings, the sculptures depict a variety of subjects including deities, flowers, animals, butter mandalas and Buddhist motifs. They are made with butter that has been blended with wax and colourful dyes. Butter sculptures are modelled by hand.
In this special workshop for children and families we will be using modelling clay.
Parental supervision is required
Proceeds of the public programs and workshops with the Tibetan Monks will go towards Nying-Jey Projects for Tibetan Communities to provide essential support for education, medical care and well-being for Tibetans living in exile in India and Tibetans in East Tibetan areas, located within Sichuan province China.
