Future Heirlooms: Contemporary Jewellery and Object Workshop 16 yrs +
April 17 | 11:30 am — 3:30 pm
Cost: $30 General, $20 Members + booking fee
Join Melbourne contemporary jeweller and artist Pennie Jagiello in a 3-hour intensive workshop and discover how to use everyday materials to create a unique neckpiece, bangle, or wearable object.
Drawing upon a curated collection of found and recycled items, participants will be guided through material explorations, to deconstruct objects used on a daily basis and transform them via new techniques. This workshop is a creative challenge, encouraging a change in the way we think, and reminding us to consider our impact on the world around us. It is suitable for anyone wanting to explore sustainable contemporary jewellery practices.
Pennie is a Melbourne based contemporary jewellery designer who is passionate about the environment. By creating from human made objects that are ordinarily discarded, her art practice creates a platform for dialogue around consumption, our impact on the environment and what our future heirlooms might be.
Some recycled materials and all tools will be provided.
Please bring along:
– An item from your home that would otherwise be thrown away or recycled
– Any favourite tools or sewing implements (such as needles, threads)
– A sketch book, pen, or pencil
– Lunch for your break, if desired
