Neridah Stockley, Hermannsburg (detail), 2019, oil on paper, 76 x 56cm

Hermannsburg and Paint | Neridah Stockley

November 20, 2021 — February 27, 2022

Neridah Stockley is a multi-disciplinary artist  based in Alice Springs. She was the 2019 recipient of the Arts NT Creative-in-Residence at the Araluen Arts Centre and in this exhibition presents a unique body of work in response to Hermannsburg.

Hermannsburg is a locally and internationally recognised chapter of inland Australia history; site of Lutheran Mission activity coupled with the Hermannsburg School of watercolour painting made famous by Albert Namatjira. It is a unique cross-cultural heritage site characterised by local landscape, early pioneer architecture, working histories, domestic, industrial and religious structures. Through fieldwork and referencing both the Araluen Art Collection and secular material from the Strehlow Research Centre, Stockley continues to explore landscape based forms and motifs through drawings, studio based paintings and sculptural works.

Neridah Stockley is represented by Michael Reid Gallery
