Illuminated Illustration Master Class with Artist Tallulah Cunningham

May 3, 2014 | 12:00 am

Saturday 3 May 2014,  10am – 4pm

With the assistance of the artist, class participants will create a small illuminated vignette of a short poem or phrase of their choice.

This workshop will provide an eclectic experience combining western medieval manuscript design and modern wildlife illustration techniques, painted on Japanese mulberry paper to create something entirely unique for each participant.

In the morning session participants will design a botanical or zoological composition, using pencil on paper and inspired by a small poem or phrase either brought by the attendee or supplied from the Rubaiyat in Tallulah’s exhibition.

The afternoon session will involve transferring the pencil on paper image onto Japanese mulberry paper. Tallulah will then demonstrate some of the techniques used in her exquisite exhibition work and then assist attendees with painting their own images using watercolour and gouache.

Class participants are recommended to bring photos or specimens as references of any elements they might specifically want in their images, provided they are small and non-living (if animal).

The class will run from 10am to 4pm,  with an hour break for lunch from noon until 1pm.

Class limit of 8. Don’t miss out – book in early.

Cost $75 members, $85 non-members.

All materials will be provided.

Please bring your own lunch or enjoy lunch in our café, to make a booking call Seraphine on 49347264, Tuesday to Sunday.
