Coordinated school visits to MRAG (paid)
The secret of a fun and engaging school visit to MRAG is our belief in a strong emphasis on play and connecting to the lived experiences of children through engaging with art.
MRAG art education offers school visits for your students to suit their needs and that connect with current exhibitions in the gallery. Our Art Factory exhibition and workshop spaces are dedicated spaces for children and young adults to provide opportunities for this engagement.
Our trained art tutors present students from 3-18 with making and looking art activities related to K-12 Visual Arts and Creative Arts syllabii in the gallery and Art Factory workshop spaces. MRAG school visits are from 1.5 – 2 hours duration and the cost is $7.50 per student; the cost is kept low to ensure that all your students have access to a quality art experience here at MRAG.
Each making activity of between 25-40 minutes duration is designed with the students’ age or skill level in mind and to have a finished work of art completed by the end of the session. In workshops in the past students in years 4-6 created 3D collage photographs using materials including fabric, oil pastels, glitter, cellophane, buttons and even sand. Other conceptual-based workshops asked students to explore the ideas present in the works on exhibition. In one instance students from years K-6 acted out their interpretation of the titles of artworks.
Fridays are an especially good day to do a school visit so look to having a Fun Friday school visit.
