Barbara Hanrahan: Linocuts from the MRAG Collection
October 3 2014 — November 23 2014
The linocuts in this suite have been created by Barbara Hanrahan drawing upon images she created early in her printmaking career in the 1960s. Hardly any of her early prints were exhibited – many given away and the blocks or plates eventually abandoned or lost. In this suite of linocuts Hanrahan has strengthened and added to her fantastical images from the past, depicting highly decorated girls with birds in their hair, mermaids, lovers and animals beneath friendly suns.
