Master printer Ian Westacott is a significant Australian artist in an international context. This exhibition reveals an ongoing dialogue between the traditional medium of etching and strong conceptual ideas exploring human identity, isolation and the ailing natural environment that surrounds us. Works range from large scale structural images of building construction, factories and workspace interiors to the most recent series of ancient trees. Westacott mainly works from life, carrying etching plates to his subjects.

The artist rarely uses photographs or preparatory sketches, preferring to rely on the image directly in front and on memory.
