We’re turning up the volume for a Sonic September at Maitland Regional Art Gallery, packed with programs for all ages and abilities.
Everyone is invited to join us for live music, artist and curator talks, tutorials in sound-art, labs in theatre and performance, drawing workshops and drop-in art activities.

Drop by the 2022 Brenda Clouten Memorial Art Scholarship exhibition to join finalist David Lobb in activating an immersive mobile studio workshop using his purpose-built ArtCart. ArtCart does not require anything from the audience except for a willing curiosity!

The Maitland Archive Community Contributions

As part of exhibition The Maitland Archive, local people are invited to bring small, non-precious objects that have memories and personal stories attached to them to the Gallery. The objects contributed will be displayed alongside an evolving mural by Luke for the duration of the exhibition.

Enter the wild sound laboratory of artist Vicky Browne from exhibition Material Sound. Vicky uses materials such as vinyl records, foam, sequins, speakers, and feathers to create a range of instruments and bubbling noise machines. This workshop will engage participants in a series of hands-on experiments, group activities and artist demonstrations to playfully explore sound.
