Drop-In! There is plenty to do at the Gallery these holidays so pop in every day for self-directed art fun or book in for a workshop delivered by one of our amazing art educators.

Take inspiration from Rosie Deacon’s delectably decorated Arrowroot Biscuits and create your own mini sweet treat from paper clay in this drop-in workshop in the gallery!
Take a look at Robert Klippel’s exhibition Visual Weight – this exhibition is a showcase of sculpture in all forms. Using materials provided, create your very own sculptural work to take home! Our experienced artist educators will assist in providing guidance and tips on construction and sculpture design.

Sharpen your sketching skills at our free Teen drawing from life workshop where we’ll be focusing on both portraiture and drawing the human body – working from Ron Mueck’s incredible Pregnant woman sculpture.

Indeah will share about her own practice and approaches to art making, and you will get a chance to see some of her ceramic pieces up close. After sketching up a design, Indeah will teach approaches to hand building and joining techniques so you can jump in and get messy!
Sculpture Workshop for Teens: The Art of Assemblage
TUESDAY 23 APRIL, 2:00 – 3:00pm
13-18 yrs
In this workshop participants will discover Klippel’s extraordinary practice. They will be introduced to the art of ‘looking’ at the sculptural potential of all ‘things’. Using found objects and pieces of ‘junk’ they will learn how to attach and organise random materials, solve structural problems, and complete and present a work.
The Young Architects – School Holiday Workshop
WEDNESDAY 24 APRIL, 10.30am-12.30pm
12-16yrs
This workshop affords students the opportunity to let their creativity run wild. We will be looking at unusual animals and their whacky homes, such as the Tasmanian mountain burrowing crayfish and its little chimney house (true story!)
