An exploration of Touching and Turning with artist Cherine Fahd

February 17 | 3:00 pm4:00 pm AEDT

Join artist Cherine Fahd in her exhibition Touching and Turning, where she will invite a participatory exploration of touch. Addressing the intricacies of touch and non-touch in familial, artistic and social terms, Fahd discusses her works and the ways social distancing enlivened an understanding of how art can use touch to bring people closer together during crisis and everyday life.

Cherine will outline the deliberate artistic choices across all the works in the exhibition and invite viewer responses that encourage participants and non-participants to personally engage with the exhibited pieces. The floor talk will facilitate a nuanced examination of the diverse ways we connect and disconnect in our relationships. The floor talk promises an interactive experience for those who wish to participate and a more distanced viewing experience for those who wish to watch.

Cherine Fahd is one of Australia’s leading photographic artists. For over twenty years, she has exhibited, written and curated works that focus on photography and video performance. Her projects often incorporate members of the public as well as her immediate family, friends and community.  Cherine’s recent projects have focused on how photographic portraiture can create intimate social encounters between herself and strangers.
