Do you have a story about someone you would like to capture in oils? Join artist Michelle Brodie for an introduction to working with oils, where you will learn how to use objects and symbols to tell a story through portraiture and develop skills to create a painting of a person with a significant backstory, either someone you know or admire or yourself!

You will learn
• how to engage thought processes for using objects and symbols to tell a story through portraiture.
• Develop skills to create a portrait painting of a person with a significant backstory, either someone you know or admire or yourself!.
You will learn how to create:
• Quick working drawings for composition
• Quick colour studies for the major painting
• Blocking-in composition onto larger oil painting paper
• Developing a painting exploring mark-making, colour mixing and the possibilities that oil paint provides in creating a painting.
• How to complete a painting.
This workshop does not require skills in drawing or painting the head.
All skill levels welcome. All materials supplied.
