This workshop is for anyone who would like to learn more about surface pattern textile design
In the workshop we will cover the different types of surface pattern textile design, and the many considerations when designing for fashion. After viewing the textile designs on display in the Collecting in Colour exhibition, we will be inspired to create our own contemporary collaged floral textile designs on paper. We will learn how to use colour, scale, spacing and flow to create beautiful floral bouquets and clusters that would be a perfect print for a summer dress or bold shirt.
Charis Pomare Harrison is a surface pattern textile designer with nearly 15 years experience working in the fashion industry. After graduating with a degree in Fashion and Textile Design from UTS, Charis spent 6 years designing in the USA, before returning to Australia to work at a leading print design studio. She enjoys creating all kinds of textile designs, from watercolour florals to quirky conversationals or detailed illustrated paisleys.
